THE FOUR finalists in the Southern Highlands International Piano competition have been announced.
The finalists are Serbians Milos Mihajlovic and Vladimir Milosevic, Brazil’s Aleyson Scopel and Dmitri Levkovich of Canada.
Each competitor was informed of the result on Wednesday night and will have just one hour to practise with the WIN Wollongong Symphony Orchestra composer and another with the orchestra itself before tomorrow’s final.
The orchestra’s conductor Carlos Alvarado said it would be a pleasure to play with the talented musicians.
“It will be a beautiful honour,” he said.
The Wollongong Symphony Orchestra manager Julie Pinazza said all members of the orchestra were excited about the performance.
“They have certainly chosen four very fine musicians. It will be wonderful for us to play with them,” she said.
Ms Pinazza said the orchestra had been preparing 13 concertos, one for each competitor, and would be pleased to know which pieces they will be required to perform.
All competitors said they had enjoyed their time in Australia, despite the cold weather of the Highlands.
Milosevic said he would find an opportunity to enjoy the country after the pressure of the competition had been lifted.
Mihajlovic said the natural beauty of Australia particularly pleased him.
“I’m amazed, everything is fantastic. I would love to see the Great Barrier Reef,” he said.
