IT was a blistering cold winter’s afternoon but that didn’t deter 29 World Youth Day (WYD) pilgrims from taking their first prayer walk in the newly constructed labyrinth at Kerever Park last Friday.
The pilgrims, who travelled from France, Paraguay, and Vietnam, spent a week in Burradoo to complete their Magis 08 task.
Magis, Latin for more, is a program that requires each pilgrim group to complete a sacred task before WYD, to do “more” to prove their faith. The task for those staying at Kerever Park was to build a labyrinth.
“The labyrinth is modelled on the one in Chartre Cathedral in France,” Sister Betty from Kerever Park said.
“Experienced labyrinth builder Dr Michael Stevens of Westmead Children’s Hospital, together with the landscape gardener and his two assistants, worked tirelessly, regardless of the weather, to ensure everything was ready for the pilgrims to work on each day.”
