Lifeline hits the books

21/05/2008 9:29:00 AM
Macarthur Lifeline worker, Bowral’s Geoff Young is up to his elbows in books, and he hopes his fellow Highland residents will help free him from the cover-to-cover burial by buying up big at Lifeline Macarthur’s second annual book fair, held next weekend, May 30 to June 1.

More than 40,000 books will be on sale, including children’s books, travel, history, novels, art and craft, cookery, gardening and biographies - all at bargain prices and can be purchased at only $4.50 per kilogram.

There will also be an online auction - at www.lifelinemacarthur.org.au from May 26 to June 1 - of old books and books that have been signed by the author.

Well-known biographer Peter Fitzsimons has donated several of his books, including Nick Farr-Jones, The Ballard of Les Darcy, Nancy Wake, Steve Waugh and Barsking in Beirut. Patrick Lindsay has also given two copies of the book Fromelles and Cosgrove.

Other autographed books include from Mark Ella, Blind Faith by Ben Elton, and Beneath the Southern Cross by Judy Nunn.

Morning and afternoon tea will also be available, as well as a barbecue lunch.
