THE people of Bundanoon sent a
clear message to the Land and
Environment Court yesterday
morning - Don’t bore
Bundanoon.
More than 350 protestors
against the proposed Norlex
Holdings development in
Governors Street blocked Church
Street, for a short time, to show
their disapproval over the
development.
The group turned out to show
their anger that the development
still had a chance of succeeding
despite four previous
applications being refused by
Wingecarribee Council.
The last application was
rejected in 2007 and the Land
and Environment Court upheld
the council’s decision last year.
Norlex successfully lodged an
appeal on three points of law and
the case is being re-heard.
The Land and Environment
Court went bush as
Commissioner Tim Moore heard
the testimony of objectors and
experts at the site where the
development is to be built.
The hearing was scheduled to
last a few hours before
adjourning back to Picton Court
House but several passionate
objectors and a full tour of the
site meant the “bush court”
lasted four hours.
The objectors major concern
is that trucks, carrying 37,000
litres of water each, will roll
through the tranquil town and
the noise pollution would be
highly disruptive to neighbours
of the Norlex development.
