Policeman suspended

15/07/2008 7:04:00 PM
A BOWRAL police officer has been suspended following the alleged assault of a 36-year-old man in Bowral on March 22.

The officer is one of three policemen charged with assault on June 27 following an incident outside the Royal Hotel on Bong Bong Street.

The 44-year-old officer was suspended on Monday on full pay.

The two other officers, a 36 and 43-year-old, are currently on restricted duties.

Goulburn Local Area Command (LAC) Superintendent Peter Gillam said the Southern Highland’s community can be assured there will be no significant impact on policing response as a result of the suspension of one officer and the non-operational status of two other officers.

“The Bowral first response policing agreement will be complied with,” he said.

The three officers are expected to appear before Goulburn Local Court on August 13.

And their names are? Why can't their names be made public when others who are charged on assault are in the local papers for all to see? Fairs fair.
