The long wait is almost over, with Wingecarribee Shire Council's new general manager Mike Hyde set to start at the end of January.
Coming straight from his role as director of city services at Wollongong City Council, Mr Hyde said he could not wait to get started.
"I'm really excited. I really like the area, I think it's one of the most idyllic, picturesque areas with lots of potential for tourism. It's very welcoming," he said.
His prime objective when he takes on the role on Monday, January 30, after he finishes up at Wollongong City Council on Friday, January 27, is to work to bring the community, council and councillors together.
"That's the number one priority," he said.
His "number two" priority, he said, was to help get the economic development needed in the area to ensure continued growth for the benefit of the shire.
