THE NEWSAGENT at Robertson sold out of all the Girlfriend magazines after local teenager Madison Borbely was named the NSW finalist in the 2009 Girlfriend Rimmel Model Search.
The 14-year-old Oxley College student featured in the November edition of the magazine, which came out on Wednesday.
The Borbely family had to keep quiet about their daughter’s success until the magazine came out.
It wasa tough ask for her very proud mother, Belinda. When told her daughter was one of the six finalists she had to sit down.
“I couldn’t comprehend what they were saying,” Belinda said.
“I had to get them to send me an email, to confirm it.”
Belinda entered her daughter in the competition for a bit of fun.
In July she was up against 400 model hopefuls who went to Sydney to see if they had what it takes.
It was then narrowed down to seven NSW finalists who were interviewed by the judges and had a professional photo shoot.
As a state finalist Madison won a two-year modelling contract with Chic Model Management and a Rimmel London and Girlfriend prize pack.
The overall winner will be announced in November. She will feature in a Girlfriend five- page fashion feature, star on the cover of Love2Shop within Girlfriend, meet with NEXT Model Management agency in New York, and appear in a Rimmel London advertorial.
Belinda said it was surreal that it had come this far.
“It is a bit of a dream. I told Madison ‘you have been picked out of 4000 girls, you are one of six finalists, treasure every moment’.”
