BOMBERS beat Travelling Wilburies 1 56-53 in a see-sawing A-grade men’s grand final.
Bombers trailed at quarter time but hit back with a huge second quarter to lead 25-21 at the main break.
TW1 fought back in the third quarter to reduce the Bombers’ lead to only three points, but that’s how it finished after an action packed final term.
TW1 had foul trouble late in the match with Jack Channells, Simon Dayball and Atem Atem all in the umpire’s bad books.
The Bombers’ Todd Bently led his team in the scoring with 17 points while Clint Bentley hit 16.
A-grade women
CENTRAL Ninjas came back from a one-point third-quarter to beat Old Beatles 44-39 last Monday night.
Trailing 28-27 going into the final quarter, the Ninjas stepped up, with Melissa Wiya having a massive 10-point term to steal the victory.
Wiya ended with a game-high 20 points, while Taylor Degnan backed her up with 11.
Nikkita Thorpe led the scoring for Old Beatles with 14 points.
A-reserve men
KEWLPATROL dominated TW2 each quarter to register a 65-39 win in A-reserve grade.
TW2 were still in the game trailing 30-22 at halftime, before a second half Kewlpatrol blitz blew them off the court.
The baskets were shared around among the Kewlpatrol boys, but Dayne Hutchinson finished on top of the scorer’s sheet with 17 points.
Nicholas Bizjak top-scored for TW2 with 13 points.
A-reserve women
A FLYING start helped Bogans to a low-scoring 28-22 win over the Jokers.
The Bogans shot to a six-point lead in the first term and that’s how the match finished as the teams matched each other for the remaining three quarters. Bogans’ star player Kimberley Cochrane scored 16 points.
