BUNDANOON chased 179 runs in only 25 overs to belt Moss Vale and bring up their first win of the season on Saturday.
Playing their first match on Bundanoon Oval, Bundy won the toss and elected to field.
Moss Vale’s opening pair Matt Heyhorn and Jarrod Woodgate could add on 14 runs before Woodgate was out off the bowling of Tim Stirton for 8.
Chris Williams snared the prized wicket of Heyhorn [23] and number three Justin Bradley to finish with 2-38 off his eight overs.
Ricky Doyle and Rod Eirth took over the bowling duties and bowled four straight maidens as Moss Vale were marooned on 3-73 when drinks were called.
Moss Vale’s Ross Webb found his range after the break and moved the scoring along before he was out for a well-compiled 68.
Young Michael Heyhorn finished unbeaten on 17 as Moss Vale ended their 38-over innings at 5-178.
Bundanoon’s openers Ricky Doyle and Anthony Macdonald wasted no time chasing the runs, combining for 80 before Macdonald was bowled for 32 in the 15th over.
Doyle and Eirth kept the scoreboard ticking over, adding 56 runs in 40 balls before Eirth was runout for 33.
Doyle then opened up, belting five sixes off Moss Vale’s spinners to guide Bundanoon to the target in only the 25th over, only two wickets down.
He finished unbeaten on 93, while Matt Jay was also not out on 16.
Nick Hill picked up the only wicket for Moss Vale, while Reece Woods finished off a nice runout.
Both teams have now won one of their three games.
o In other second grade matches, defending champions Robertson ended Mittagong’s unbeaten run.
The Spuds batted first and were all out for 188, before they rolled Mittagong for only 95.
Robertson opener Mark Bisby, captain of the club’s third grade Bunyips, destroyed Mittagong’s batting line-up taking 6-13 off eight overs.
Nick Reinhard top-scored for Mittagong with 24.
*Wingello scored their second straight win, this time belting Bowral.
Wingello batted their way to 8-188 before Bowral were all out for 75 in the 36th over.
