MOSS Vale were soundly beaten by Tully Park in the 2008/09 major semi-final re-match at Kenmore Oval on Saturday.
Sporting a new-look team this season, Moss Vale struggled to gain any ascendency over Goulburn’s best side, as they were all out for 114 in the 42nd over.
Youngster Owen Chivers top-scored for Moss Vale with 33, while Matt Arnull (20), Ben Parker (18) and Murray Burgoyne (11) were the other Mossy batsmen to reach double figures.
Tully’s Justin Rowlings (3-17), Peter Bullock (3-18) and Nathan Gilson (3-28) did most of the damage.
In reply, Moss Vale’s veteran opener Troy Brown claimed the crucial wickets of Rowlings (12) and Smith (4) to give the defending minor premiers a slight hope of winning.
Some tight bowling by Cameron Facer and Dave Edmonds had Tully at 5-65 and the match in the balance, but Jack Murdoch (21 not out) and Bullock (15 not out) steered Tully to take the competition points.
Moss Vale will look for their first win of the season when they take on Bowral United in round two.
