Foundation readies to play transplants

23 Oct, 2009 10:10 AM
THE Bradman Foundation cricket team starts its season this Sunday with a one-day match against the Australian Transplant Cricket Club at Bradman Oval.

The match is being spruiked as a tribute to David Hookes, the former Test player and organ donor.

Cricket player and kidney/pancrea transplant recipient Jake Williams is travelling from Victoria for the match.

He said he was honoured to be playing for the ATCC in David’s memory.

“Hookesy was a great cricketer but he was also a gracious man,” Wiliams said.

“He helped give life to people like me who didn’t have any other chance.”

Bradman Foundation team captain Mark Preddey said his team was looking forward to taking on the ATCC.
