THERE’S no place like Lackey Park for Moss Vale. The maroons took the minor premiership last season on the back of their home form and this season is shaping up along similar lines.
While the minor premiership may already be out of the question, Moss Vale’s return to Lackey Park on Saturday saw them put in a competitive performance against the red-hot Coolavin/Workers.
Coolavin have not really been tested this season as Wingello, Hill Top and Bowral United failed to take top order wickets.
Moss Vale had the Goulburn side reeling three wickets down for only a handful of runs, but a middle-order revival took Coolavin to a hard fought win.
Moss Vale scored 7-130 off their 44 overs, with captain Dave Edmends top-scoring with 40. He was well supported by Murray Burgoyne [20], Blake Parker [18 not out] and Troy Brown [14 not out].
Edmends conceded 130 was only a small target, but said it gave his bowlers something to bowl at.
“We put up a decent show this week,” he said. “At least we were competitive this time around and set a target, albeit a small-ish one.”
Coolavin passed Moss Vale’s total five wickets down in the 41st over.
Scott McKie was Moss Vale’s best bowler taking 3-6 off nine overs.
