Wingello Tigers opener caught behind on 99

1/12/2008 3:30:00 PM
WINGELLO opener Bob Lewis was caught out on 99 as the Tigers scored 8-303 at the end of the first day of its Southern Lands cricket match against Moss Vale on Saturday.

Wingello captain Michael Pike said Lewis was settled as he approached the ton.

“He batted really well on Saturday,” Pike said.

“He was trying to get the century out of the way so he could bat on and he nicked one.”

Wingello have put its recent poor form with the bat aside to post the big score with Ricky Martin scoring 80 and Grant Pike 47.

Best of the bowlers for Moss Vale were captain Scott Shepherd with 4-65, and Troy Brown with 3-101.

“Scott Shepherd bowled consistently all game and did well to get four considering the pitch was dead,” Pike said.
