ANDREW Hayes, playing off a handicap of 17, shot a scratch round of 87 for a nett 65 to win the Ted Binns Memorial Trophy at Gibraltar Country Club on Saturday last August.
Binns enjoyed everything about golf and was a much respected and supportive member of the golf club.
He was also remembered for his legendary putting around the greens, so it was a given that part of the round included a long putting off the green competition.
Barry Davison won the competition with a putt from 20 metres off the 10th green to 65cm from the pin.
Members and friends enjoyed a good day on the course with a fairly difficult set up of pin positions and the new water hazards in play.
Frank Zarboch, off a handicap of 9, won the August A-grade medal with a scratch score of 75 for a net 66.
Runner up was Wayne Knapp off two, who hit an excellent 69 scratch including nearest-to-pins on the fourth and 12th for a net 67.
The scratch winner was Allan Bray with 78 on a countback.
Hayes won the B-grade medal, while the runner up on a countback was Brice Morgan off 13 with 83 scratch for a nett 70.
Ken Swinfield won scratch with a score of 85.
Dave Holland won the C-grade medal with 87 scratch for a nett 67. Trevor Campbell off 32 was runner up with 103 scratch for a nett 71. David Thomas won scratch with 92.
The NTPs were won by Allan Bray on the 4th, Chris Dunne won the 9th, Ron Bell won the Pro’s NTP tenth, Wayne Knapp the 12th and 15th. Martin Coffey won the Birdie hole 7th.
