GIBRALTAR Country Club golfers battled cold and windy conditions and course developments that have lifted the course’s CCR rating to 69 last Saturday, but there was still some hot scoring in the stroke event.
Chris Delahunty, playing off a handicap of 13, scored an excellent scratch round of 79 for a net 66 to win Division one (for 0-16 handicaps) at Gibraltar Country Club on Saturday. Division one runner-up was Ken Swinfield off 13 with 82 scratch for a net 69.
The scratch winner was Martin Coffey with 75.
Arthur Robinson, off a handicap of 20, won division 2 (for 17 - 32 handicaps) on a countback. Robinson shot a scratch round of 84 for a net 64, which was the best net score on the day.
Robinson’s score was only four shots more than his age, which is a phenomenal effort. He has twice scored lower than his age, once when he was 79 and once when he was 73. Runner up was Peter Daicy (Moss Vale) off 26 with 90 scratch for a net 64.
