ANDREW Hayes, playing off a handicap of 17, shot an excellent scratch round of 82 for a net 65 to win the Saturday stableford at Gibraltar Country Club a fortnight ago.
Hayes shot four shots better than his handicap to take the Ted Binns Memorial Trophy.
Dave Thomas won C-grade scratch in the Ted Binns Memorial Trophy with a 92 and backed it up with a 77 last Saturday to better his handicap by 12 shots and outclass the field with 48 points.
It was a phenomenal performance by Thomas and one that has him regraded to B-grade on a new handicap of 17.
Lee Taylor, playing off a handicap of 15, won division one (for 0-16) handicaps with 39 points on a countback from Martin Coffey off six.
The scratch winner was Wayne Knapp with 33 points.
Thomas, playing off 20, won division two (for 17 - 32 handicaps) with 48 points while the runner up was Chris Dunne off 23 with 43.
Other good scores were Barry Murchie 41, Shin Lee 40 and Greg Morgan 38 points.
The NTPs were won by Chris Hovey on the 4th, John Jack the 9th, Greg Morgan won the Pro’s NTP 10th, Frank Zarboch won the 12th, and Bill Heaslip won the 15th.
Peter Wilson won the birdie hole 3rd.
In the ball competition there were six balls handed out to 39 points nett. They were won by Thomas, Dunne, Murchie, Lee, Taylor and Coffey.
