Bowral Blues hit top gear in second term

16/07/2008 9:56:00 AM
Bowral's first grade women’s hockey team has leapfrogged Robertson into third spot after they took down Burrawang 2-0 at Welby on Saturday.

Burrawang started the match in better form than Bowral but could not find the back of the net, sending the teams to halftime 0-0.

The Blues started the second half more determined than the first and Stacey Turner put them ahead 10 minutes in with a solid deflection.

Tina Moore than sealed the Blues second win of 2008 five minutes from time from a short corner. Moore initially mis-hit the cross but managed to slam the ball home on her second attempt.

Bowral coach Paul Bunt said not playing for three weeks saw his team start the game poorly, but they came together in the second half.

"Our goalie Amy Laughton had a stand out game and stopped a few good shots that Burra pumped at her," he said.

"We threw the ball around well and eliminated them well through our passing. Lucy Brennan also played well, and I am happy with the result."
