BOWRAL beat Robertson 2-1 to claim the women’s first grade hockey championship for the first time in over 30 years at Welby Hockey Centre on Saturday.
In a classic grand final that had everything from rain, hail and shine to yellow cards, controversy and even a penalty stroke, Bowral held on to their slender lead as Robertson pushed until the final buzzer.
Celebrations erupted on the field and the sideline when the clock struck zero, as Bowral players and fans alike celebrated a drought-breaking win.
The celebrations were not short lived as the Bowral girls made sure it was a win to remember.
Bowral’s Stacey Turner opened the scoring before Robertson equalised on the counter attack.
But a second-half penalty stroke converted by Simone Bunt sealed the 2-1 win.
