Robertson’s Illawarra first grade men’s hockey team sit just outside the top four after they beat Mittagong 2-1 at Welby on Sunday.
It was also a good day for Bowral who pushed ahead of Mittagong into sixth spot after they won a high scoring game, 5-3 over Dapto.
The warfare at Welby was fast and furious and there was no love lost between the two Highlands rivals. The teams were deadlocked 1-1 at halftime after Mittagong opened the scoring through Kieran O’Brien 10 minutes in. Jed Scholfield equalised for the black and gold’s 10 minutes later.
Robertson captain Damian Gair smashed in the winner off a short corner eight minutes out from time.
