Spuds defend their throne

30 Sep, 2009 11:02 AM
THE Lions may be the kings of the jungle, but Robertson are still kings of Southern Highlands Hockey after beating Mittagong 1-0 in a hard-fought final on Saturday.

The Spuds scored the game’s only goal midway through the first half and protected their lead all the way to the final whistle.

Unfortunately for Southern Highlands Hockey, shocking weather including gale-force winds and even small hailstones, kept the crowds away.

But nothing could dampen the celebrations of the Robertson players.

Captain Damian Gair said the team had a “cracker” night after the final and it was just reward for a lot of hard work throughout the year.
