THIS time last week, Think Big Stud at Burradoo was celebrating Viewed’s Caulfield Cup win.
But this morning, Viewed’s feats have been replaced by the stable’s newest star, as they prepare to welcome home Cox Plate winner So You Think.
The boom three-year old colt defied the odds and history to claim a convincing win in Australia’s richest weight-for-age race.
Think Big Stud manager Kerry Wisnewski said the stud’s newest superstar would be welcomed home to Burradoo this week.
“Privately he has always had the reputation of the best horse Bart [Cummings] has had since Saintly,” Wisnewski said.
“We have known for some time that he had a lot of potential and was a pretty smart horse.”
Wisnewski said So You Think would return home for a six-eight week spell before resuming training in view of Sydney’s rich autumn racing carnival.
He said the stud had big plans for the superstar and was already considering his post-racing future.
“We would love to stand him here when he finishes racing,” Wisnewski said.
“He’s a lovely, quiet and really laid back horse.
“I don’t know if we could ever sell him, but he may just be too good to stand [for stud] here.
“All we do know is that he won’t be retired straight away, he will be home this week.”
Wisnewski will be joined at the Think Big Stud by Caulfield Cup and defending Melbourne Cup champion Viewed, once his spring finishes with the Melbourne Cup next week.
Wisnewski said Viewed was likely to be s permanent resident at the stud by this time next year.
“If he wins next Tuesday then he could possibly be considered for a third Melbourne Cup but we are pretty hopeful of having him back here,” he said.
