TWO Highlanders, Gordon Lewis and Kevin Moore, represented NSW in the Peet Kay Trophy in Sydney recently.
The trophy is contested between NSW and Tasmania each year, and this year NSW hosted the Tasmanians.
Bowls Tasmania travelled to Sydney to contest for the Peet Kay Trophy, which started in 1961.
A four-day series was held with a warm-up day followed by three tests.
On day one at the Cabramatta Bowling Club, on a 17-second green, a welcome day was held and a match between Royal NSW Bowling Association and Bowls Tasmania took place.
Lewis and Moore, playing for NSW, were part of the Royal’s 146-104 shots win, beating Tasmania six rinks to two.
Day two was held at the Rydalmere Central Bowling Club and the first test was played.
NSW took the test 173-136 shots, a seven rinks to one win.
The second test was played at Guilford Bowling and Recreational Club and NSW again were to strong winning 170-117.
The third and final test was at the Rosehill Bowling Club and Tasmania got some revenge for the first three days losses. Tasmania won 139 to 126, but lost the series two tests to one.
Next year’s event is scheduled for Devonport in Tasmania.
