MEMBERS from Bowral Bowling Club are praying for good weather this week as they prepare to play the inaugural over-60 three-bowls pairs tournament on Thursday.
Thirty eight teams have committed to contest three matches, which will be fourteen ends each.
Teams are coming from Bathurst, Avoca Beach, St Johns Park, Illawarra and the South Coast, as well as clubs closer to home, such as Bundanoon who have entered five teams.
Bowlers will be vying for a share of the total of $1950 in prize money. More than 30 per cent of bowlers will receive some prize money.
The tournament is open to teams of men, ladies or mixed pairs and has attracted a variety of teams.
Creams and club shirts are the dress for the day and with a nomination fee of $20 per player, this covers the cost coffee/tea on arrival, morning tea, lunch and a full day of bowls plus the opportunity to take home substantial prize money.
Bowls offer many opportunities like this and for $5 on Saturday the July 4, the Bowral Bowling Club invited any interested person to join them for the day. Please call at the club to register or ring the club for further information.
