BOWRAL Bowling Club’s annual Tulip Time Pairs has been cancelled this year due to a lack of interest.
A prize purse of $4,500 was not enough to entice the 42 teams required to hold the event, which was scheduled for later in the month.
The Tulip Time pairs started off as the Bowral Open Pairs in 1977 and club bowls secretary Ken Handley said it would be the first time in the competition’s 31 history that it would not take place.
“We didn’t even get close to half the teams needed. We are not the only club struggling,” he said.
“It is disappointing but there is not much we can do about it.”
