Girls improve at State Age

14/07/2008 9:16:00 AM
THE Southern Highlands under-13s finished seventh out of 30 teams at the division three State Age championships at Charlestown, Newcastle, last week.

The girls finished on 37 points and improved on their 10th placed finish last year. Great Lakes took out the title with 43 points.

More than 100 teams competed across four age groups at Charlestown with teams coming from all over NSW.

The under-13s played 25 games winning 18, losing six and drawing one. The second day was the girls most successful. The team was undefeated in nine games, including their draw.

The shooters nailed 301 goals. Caitlin Humphreys (112) topped the list and Isabella Ropert scored 77 goals, Emma Casey 65 and Lily Bensley 47.

Both the defensive and attacking ends were supported strongly by the mid court of Sophie Murchie, Phoebe Shirlow and Sarah Smith.
