MITTAGONG and District Darts Association held the annual Mittagong RSL Open Darts Tournament last month, with Dart Players Australia points on offer for entrants.

It was a great weekend of darts thanks to Leah Evison, who ran the event along with Shane and Evan from the DPA (due to the rest of the committee being otherwise engaged).

Evison did a fabulous job and was to be congratulated. The committee was grateful for the time Evison put in and also a big thank you to Gordon Riley.

Twenty five of the top 50 grand slam of darts players played which was fabulous for the status of the tournament.

There were four qualifiers with the top eight from each going to the final on Sunday afternoon.

There were 32 players on the Friday night and the top eight were Simon Whitlock, Steve MacArthur, Arnel Galvez, Don Whittington, Rob Modra, Paul Neighbour, Phil Heath and Peter Asmusssen.

There were also 32 players on the Saturday morning and the top eight were Wayne Brown, Dave McKay, Brian Roach, Rod Crawford, Barry Jouannet, Kim Anderson, Bill Aitken and Dean McGladdery.

On Saturday afternoon there were 30 players and the top eight were Daniel Sim, Glenn Casson, Kevin Luland, Pat Molloy, Dave Fitzpatrick, Rod Neeson, Jerry Weyman and Fran Shore.

There were only 17 players on Sunday morning and the top eight were Dave Muller, Nathan Caddes, Andrew Meti, Mitchell Clegg, Wayne Murray, Reg Tapper, Nathan Casson and Bob Evans.

These made up the final 32 for the finals.

Whittington, Heath, Brown, Crawfrd, Casson, Molloy (local player), Neeson, Weyman, Caddies, Meti, Murray, Tapper, Casson (local player), Evans, McKay and Shore (lady that went the furthest) received prizemoney for the last 32.

Asmussen, Jouannet, Anderson, Aitken, McGladdeery, Sim, Fitzpatrick and Muller all received the last 16 money.

MacArthur, Galvez, Roach and Clegg received the quarters prize and Modra and Neighbour received the semi’s prizemoney.

The runner up was Luland and the winner was Simom Whitlock.
