BOWRAL’S home field advantage could prove the difference in the minor preliminary semi-final at Eridge Park on Sunday (3pm).
In a fortunate finals draw, Bowral drew the only final game they had a chance of making. After winning their last three games on the trot to finish fourth, they take on fifth-placed Uni Mallee Bulls in the do-or-die fixture.
Bowral are coming off their best win of the season, a 17-15 nailbiter against IDRU heavyweights Shoalhaven, while Uni beat Tech/Tahs 26-7 in their last round game.
Bowral and Uni have each won a game in their two meetings this year but Uni beat Bowral 22-14 in their round 13 clash. The Blacks defence will be the deciding factor in Sunday's sudden death final.
If they can frustrate the students in the same way they did Shoalhaven and stick to their strengths, running the ball tightly up the middle of the park, Bowral should advance to play the loser of the major preliminary semi-final between Shamrocks and Shoalhaven.
