After rolling the Picton Magpies the week before, Moss Vale Dragons came to Community Oval expecting another big win yesterday.
The Narellan Jets had other ideas and took down the home side 40-26.
Dragons captain-coach Lee Trasler said the Dragons were disappointing.
“We were woeful. We came here expecting to take the two points. I am pretty embarrassed,” he said.
“It might be a blessing in disguise and bring us down to earth a bit. We were average at training this week and did not turn up to play.”
Due to the Dragons backline being decimated by injury, youngsters Ben Murchie and Isaac Loader shared time out on the wing and Trasler said Loader handled the pressure well.
“Isaac got some big hits put on him but he stood up. He will play more first grade,” he said.
Trasler was scathing of his boys’ efforts.
“No excuses, we have played tougher teams than that. Like I said, we did not turn up.”
The Dragons led briefly at the 15 minute 10-6 mark but Narellan’s huge forward pack and quick backline saw them lead at the break 18-16.
