THE Mittagong RSL first grade grand final line-up appears to be a formality after the Thirlmere Roosters booked their spot in the decider on August 31 with a 44-0 thrashing of Moss Vale in the major semi-final at Camden yesterday.
The undefeated minor premiers made the Dragons look second rate in their eight-tries-to-nil thumping and the frustraitons of losing to the Roosters for the sixth time in six games this year was written all over the Dragons faces.
It was bad weekend for the club with the reserves and under-18 Paccon Plates teams both bundled out of minor semi-finals at Narellan on Saturday night. The under-18s lost to Narellan 18-14, while the reserves went down to the Roosters 28-16.
Mittagong had two come-from-behind victories to book their spots in the preliminary final at Picton this Sunday. The DNC Lions beat Mount Annan 24-22 and the under-18 Veolia Pennant Lions edged out Narellan 33-28 at Narellan on Saturday night.
