IT was Christmas in July for the Mittagong Lions as they recorded their third straight win, this time a 40-16 thrashing of Bowral Bunnies at Mittagong Sportsground on Friday night.
Having dismantled Robertson last week, there were high hopes among the Lions faithful in the DNC Cup catch-up game.
A sombre mood was cast over the field following the terrible injury to Kyle Floggett in the curtain-raiser.
Bowral President Peter Robertson was unhappy with his side’s performance, following the eight tries to three loss,
“I thought it was a good, hard game, but obviously we are disappointed,” he said.
Mittagong president Geoff Alcock said that despite conceding an early try, the result was never in doubt.
“The game was very one-sided despite the fact Bowral scored first,” he said.
Third-placed Mittagong have now scored 134 points in their past three outings.
A soft try to Bowral saw the Bunnies begin strongly to take a 4-0 lead in the 10th minute, which appeared to spring the sleeping Lions into action.
