No sour grapes for Moss Vale’s former coach

20 May, 2009 11:09 AM
MOSS VALE’S former coach Paul Matthews said his departure from the club was the best thing for himself and the club.

He was informed of the club’s decision to part ways last Friday, but showed he still supported the players by watching on at Oakdale on Sunday.

Matthews said the direction he wanted to take the team and the direction the committee wanted to take the team were incompatible.

“There are no dramas there,” he said.

“I still wish them all the best.”

Matthews said time would tell whether Moss Vale could win Group 6/Wests this year. “They are fit enough that’s for sure,” he said.

“And they have the structures in place - hopefully that can carry them through.”
