MOSS VALE suffered its first loss of the season, with a 30-18 defeat at the hands of Thirlmere/ Tahmoor at Thirlmere Sports ground yesterday afternoon.
The loss continued the Dragons’ cursed run against the Roosters, which included five losses to Group 6’s powerhouse team last year, and ended their undefeated start to the season.
The Roosters’ win was masterminded by Highlands resident, halfback Shane Martin, whose crafty kicking game netted two tries for the home team.
The match started evenly with both teams trading tries in the first 15 minutes.
Moss Vale then had two tries disallowed, one for a forward pass and one for a player stepping on the touchline.
It was followed by Thirlmere’s turn to have two tries disallowed, for the exact same reasons as the Dragons.
But the Roosters scored a quick double before halftime to set up an 18-6 lead at the break.
