REVENGE is a dish best served cold and on Saturday the Bowral Blacks dished out an impressive 26-10 win against the Shamrocks in freezing conditions at Eridge Park.
Last time the teams met the game was abandoned following a brawl. Blacks backs Leif King and Ryan Lonsdale each copped four-week bans, while a Shamrock bench player was banned for eight weeks and another three.
The atmosphere heading into Saturday's vital ICUR round 14 clash was spiteful after the clubs attended a hearing on the previous game on Tuesday night.
Despite Bowral having no previous history of bad behaviour, which the Shamrocks can't boast, both clubs' good behaviour bonds were upheld and the game was given a no result status.
Blacks captain Chris Creber said it was disappointing.
"I feel like the IDRU are a little boys club for the Wollongong teams," he said.
Bowral's actions spoke louder than words on Saturday as the home team fought back from a 10-7 halftime deficit to record their fifth bonus point and kept the third placed Shamrocks scoreless after the break in the process.
"It was an important win in the context of the season as well as in the context of all the garbage that had gone on this week. We had to change our training to Wednesday so I could go to the hearing which made for a disjointed preparation," Creber said.
"They had a lot of possession in our 22 in the second half but didn't make one line break."
