BUNDANOON’S third graders hold a tenuous spot at the bottom of the top-eight following their heart breaking 19-18 loss to Uni at Wollongong on Saturday.
The Highlanders led 18-14 in the dying stages before Uni stole a try right at the death to snatch an unlikely victory.
Bundanoon went ahead 3-0 early through the boot of Jim Thompson but, minutes later, Uni scored a try to lead 8-3 at the break.
Highlander Dane Stevenson scored early on in the second term to lock it up 8-8 but Uni edged ahead 14-8 via two penalty goals.
Sam Burnham scored Bundanoon’s second try to give them a 15-14 lead and, despite Ritchie Martin getting sinbinned, Burnham landed another penalty goal to put them up 18-14.
