Highlanders aim to finish on high

BUNDANOON’S third graders could leapfrog Shoalhaven into seventh spot with a bonus point win when the teams clash in the last round at Bundanoon Oval tomorrow.

The Highlanders are coming off a solid 17-8 win over the Tech/Tahs, while Shoalhaven were smacked 31-5 by second-placed Shamrocks in the penultimate round last Saturday .

Pat Shields put Bundanoon's first points on the board after just five minutes with a great 50 metre run that set up Ritchie Martin to go over from a penalty scrum.

The Tahs kicked a penalty goal to make it 7-3 but Sam Burnham slotted a goal of his own to push out the lead to 10-3.

In the final minutes of the first half, The Tahs managed to sneak through Bundanoon’s tight defence to get their only try of the game and trail 10-8 at the break.

Martin scored his second from another penalty scrum right after the break to give the Highlanders a handy 17-8 match winning lead.
