ALL new clubs struggle when starting from scratch and the Bowral Bunnies found this all too true in Group 6 this season. The resurrected Bowral club finished off its season with two losses at Loseby Park on Saturday.

The under-18s had a narrow 40-34 loss to Picton, while the DNC Cup Bunnies were skinned 42-12 by Mount Annan. Both teams finished the season with two wins but managed to dodge the wooden spoon.

Bunnies president Peter Robertson said it had been a tough year and that player commitment was the biggest issue.

“I just want 15-20 reliable players and more help,” he said.

“When the president of the club is washing the jumpers it is not a good state of play.

“We had a lot of community support and interest, we just need to perform on the field.”

Robertson said running an under-18s team was too much of a headache and that he would only be entering a seniors team in 2009. He was also unsure if captain Lee Faavae would return.
