A GAME of two halves saw a late own-goal to Patris result in a thrilling 2-2 draw against Bowral at Jurd Park on Saturday.
With both teams desperate to apply pressure to the competition leaders, it was Bowral who took a deserved lead in the 10th minute after some great lead up play by Alex Arancibia saw Warwick Turpin slot the ball past the Patris ‘keeper.
Despite some impressive play from Patris, it was Bowral who doubled their advantage on the half-hour mark when Darren Payne collected the ball with his back to goal and finished brilliantly on the turn.
Bowral captain Andy Bell said Patris were primed for a big second half.
“Someone mentioned at the half time team talk that 2-0 was a dangerous scoreline and those words did prove ominous,” he said.
Patris player-coach Simon Roberts echoed Bell’s thoughts.
“The boys were cranky at halftime,” he said.
