 Doyles do the damage

Doyles do the damage

4/08/2008 4:39:00 PM
BOWRAL went home deflated for the second Saturday in a row after conceding another late goal in their 2-2 draw with Exeter at Church Road.

Partis’ four-goal loss to Yerrinbool keeps both Bowral and Exeter in the hunt for a finals spot with the ladder unchanged from round 12.

Leigh Doyle picked Bowral’s pockets five minutes from time when he latched on to a through ball and evaded the defence to slot the ball home and salvage a draw.

Ricky Doyle opened the scoring for Exeter early on but Bowral responded with two goals late in the half to lead 2-1 at the break.

Bowral made the most of the strong breeze and 10 minutes out from the half a corner was flicked on by John Bova for Christian Lotter to volley in the ball from the back post to equalise.

Just before halftime Alex Arancibia and Warwick Turpin combined, with Turpin hitting home a fantastic left foot strike to give the defending premiers the lead.

Bowral should have opened the scoring in the fifth minute when fill-in Exeter goalkeeper Damien Strode was caught off his line and a Turpin goal- bound shot was cleared at the last second onto the bar and then to safety.

“Mark Screen went close a couple of times but as the half wore on it looked like it might be one of those days for us,” Bowral skipper Andy Bell said.
