 Exeter edge past Patris

Exeter edge past Patris

20/08/2008 1:29:00 PM
EXETER will take on Bowral in the first grade minor semi-final on Saturday after they managed to beat Patris 2-0 on Sunday and edge past them by a single point into fourth spot.

Replaying their round 14 game that was called-off due to poorly marked lines, both teams entered Sunday’s game with draw against the top two teams on Saturday. Exeter drew with Yerrinbool 1-1 and Patris with Robertson 1-1.

Ricky Doyle proved the difference for the 2007 grand finalists bagging a double after a 0-0 halftime scoreline.

Doyle scored his first 15 minutes into the second term with a smart header from a Matt Kellond corner. He sealed the win midway through the half following some good lead-up work by Exeter’s midfield and tapped in the ball from the back post.

Exeter captain Phil Cuppitt said it was a dominant performance.
