Patris in hot form with finals just around the corner

PATRIS first graders' purple patch of form continued with a 2-1 win over a vastly improved Mittagong team at Ironmines Oval on Saturday.

Partis remain in third spot with four games to go and the ladder is unchanged from last round. Patris have only lost one game, to Yerrinbool, in their last six outings.

Bill Mihalis put Patris up 1-0 at the break with a header from a pinpoint corner by player-coach Simon Roberts. Mittagong equalised through Adrian Pagano midway through the term with a long-range shot. Rowan Smith then found the winner for Patris with 10 minutes to go off a Mihalis cross that Matt Mitenyl, Roberts and Mittagong goalkeeper Nathan O'Malley all missed leaving Smith an easy shot.

Roberts said he was happy with the performance.
