Robertson-Burrawang’s first graders are proving the surprise packet of 2008 after they won their third game, 4-0 over Bowral, to lead the league.
In atrocious conditions at Hampden Park, Robertson's run and gun tactics paid off as Bowral’s midfield struggled to repel Robertson’s raids.
The 2007-second graders lead 1-0 at the break after Brendan Smith scored in the 25 minute. Matt Fernandez scored in the 48th and 67th minutes from Nathan McGraw crosses and McGraw scored the goal of the game in the 59th minute to establish a commanding 3-0 lead.
“It was a beautiful solo goal. He beat three big Bowral defenders and then went hard right to beat their keeper as he came off his line,” Robertson manager Peter Bartlett said.
Bartlett said the team was ecstatic with the win.
“Bowral are well structured, probably the second best structured team behind Yerrinbool. The temperature plummeted but our keeper Ian Gardiner kept warm by making an enormous amount of saves. He was our man of the match,” Bartlett said.
