MITTAGONG gave Robertson-Burrawang an early scare but the Rovers hit back to run out 3-1 winners at Hampden Park on Saturday.
The Rovers kept their impressive winning streak at home intact despite Mittagong opening the scoring five minutes in after Steve Hinde and Mark Woszlzalski combined well upfront.
Adam Bartlett equalised for Robertson just after the half hour mark to lock it up 1-1 at the break.
A nine-man Mittagong outfit had no answers for the title contenders in the second term and a defensive miscommunication resulted in a Mittagong defender heading in the ball to put Robertson up 2-1.
Matt Fernandez made sure his goal tally continued to rise by finding the back of the net five minutes from time to seal the win.
Robertson’s eighth win keeps them in the minor premiership hunt with Yerrinbool but they will need to record big wins over Bowral and Patris in their last two outings to complete their fairy -tale season.
Robertson manager Peter Bartlett said Mittagong played quality soccer.
“We were a bit shell shocked when they scored first but it was too unexpected,” he said.
