United finals hopes rest on sharp shooting Sharks

24/08/2008 2:16:00 PM
HIGHLANDS United first graders will be sweating out tomrrow’s last round result between undefeated league leaders Woonona Sharks and fourth-placed Kiama in a game to decide their finals fate.

Fifth-placed United have the bye, putting them on 32 points, but Kiama (31) will knock them out with a win, while a draw sees both teams locked on 32 points with an identical goal difference.

To complicate matters further, Helensburgh (31) take on cellar dwellers Bellambi and, if they win as predicated, they will wrap up third. If Bellambi finish their season with an upset, United will go through to the September 13 quarter finals.

United coach Brian Hollywood said if Kiama draw with Woonona they deserve to go through and said he was happy with his teams’ last hit-out in a 5-2 loss to the Sharks at Renwick on Saturday.
