Highlands United first grade’s hopes of finishing in the top two of their pool suffered another blow on Saturday when they were trounced 5-0 by the Balgownie Rangers at Balgownie.
The team’s fourth loss puts them in fourth spot, 14 points behind undefeated league leaders Woonona in the Peoplecare District League.
The reserves secured third spot with a 1-1 draw, while the young graders fifth win, 4-1, also sees them in third spot chasing an undefeated Woonona outfit.
The first graders can get their season back on track when they host the winless Berkley Sports at Renwick this Saturday.
United coach Brian Hollywood said Highlands can’t seem to capitalise on their talent.
“We have so much potential but only seem to fulfil it when we are 3-0 down instead of from the start,” he said.
“We are giving away silly goals and not finishing off at the other end.”
United trailed 1-0 at the break and Hollywood said they dominated the second half.
