Yerrinbool-Bargo’s first grade soccer team moved into second spot following their fourth round 6-0 thrashing of Mittagong at Ironmines on Saturday.
Mittagong, who had five players out through suspension totalling 14 weeks and had key players missing, were always going to struggle against Rob Miller’s well-drilled outfit.
Yerrinbool dominated the game but only led 1-0 at the break on the back of a Ben Miller goal. The winger scored three second-half goals to go with a Josh Borg double to give his side a healthy goal difference. Miller’s four goal haul impressed his captain.
“Ben scored his goals from the right wing and managed to find the near post. He was pretty happy with his efforts,” Rob Miller said.
For Mittagong coach Hus Husseyin there was one clear positive out of the loss.
“No one got sent off which was good but our fitness cost us in the second half. I have been working on the guys’ skills which are coming on so we probably need to work on fitness,” he said.
Mittagong, who leapt from third to first grade this season, have also lost Aaron McLaughlin, who has gone back to Highlands United, and former United player Andrew Donker.
