FANCY a couple of hours doing what you really enjoy? What do you like to do in your spare time?
Why not match your hobbies and pastimes to the needs of the community?
For instance, if you like walking there are some lovely dogs at the animal shelter who would love to accompany you.
And if you enjoy singing, there are some children with disabilities in the Highlands who would love to singalong with you.
If you enjoy a chat over a cuppa, there’s many people just waiting to meet you.
If gardening helps you unwind, there are plenty of gardens just longing to relax you.
If you like nothing better than going for a drive, then why not let Meals on Wheels or Community Transport make you really happy?
All these are examples of current volunteer job vacancies listed with Volunteering Wingecarribee (Volwing), the local volunteer resource centre.
More than 60 local not-for-profit groups register their volunteer needs with Volwing, so they are sure to find something suitable for you.
Volunteering helps the community but it also has benefits for the volunteer, such as having fun, learning new skills or using your talents.
One particular need at the moment is for committee members, especially minute secretaries and treasurers. Most organisations are run by management committees or boards, and meetings are usually monthly for a couple of hours, often in the evening.
If you can share your skills, hobbies and time, give Volwing a call on 4869 4617 or email volwing@bigpond.com. And remember, with volunteering you get more out than you put in.
